History

The history of Antalya Wildlife Park, also known as Antalya Zoo, dates back to the mid-1980s. At that time, the region of Antalya was rapidly growing as a tourist destination, and the local government recognized the need for a modern zoo that could allow visitors to see and learn about wildlife.

In 1986, the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality established a zoo in a small area of land, which later expanded to cover an area of 400,000 square meters. The zoo was designed to showcase the region’s natural beauty, with its location on the Mediterranean coast providing a stunning backdrop for the animal exhibits.

Over the years, Antalya Zoo has undergone several renovations and expansions, with new animal exhibits and facilities added to the park. In 2015, the zoo underwent a major renovation that transformed it into a modern wildlife park, with state-of-the-art enclosures and facilities designed to provide a comfortable and natural environment for the animals.

Today, Antalya Wildlife Park is one of Turkey’s largest and most impressive zoos, attracting visitors from all over the world.
